 Beef Burger

A deliciously smoky burger with a hint of heat. Packed with flavour and so simple to make, works well with minced beef or pork.

Ingredients

To produce take 500g of lean minced beef, 200g of streaky bacon, a medium onion, a clove of garlic, 2 slices of slightly stale wholemeal bread, a medium egg, 3tsp of chipotle paste, a dash of olive oil, a sprig of parsley, sea salt and cracked black pepper.

 Method

Fine dice the onion. Crush the garlic. Dice the bacon. Heat a little olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion until just turning brown. Add the bacon, stir. Add the garlic and fry gently for a minute or so. Add the chipotle paste and cook for a further minute. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Whisk the egg. Crumb the bread with a cheese grater. Chop the parsley. Place the minced beef into a bowl. Add the egg, breadcrumbs, onion mixture, parsley, sea salt and cracked pepper. Blend together with the hands until a firm and even mixture is formed. From six burger shapes, using a pastry cutter to obtain an even and rounded shape. Cook on a griddle pan or barbecue. Serve as required.
